LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
May 5, 1995
TO: Honorable Toby Goodman, Chair IN RE: Committee Substitute
Committee on Juvenile Justice and for
Family Issues House Bill No.
House of Representatives 2572
Austin, Texas By: Brady
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2572 (Relating to foster care and placement of certain children.)
this office has determined the following:
The bill would require the Department of Protective and
Regulatory Services to develop swift adoption teams to expedite
the process of placing a child under the jurisdiction of the
department for adoption. There are possible costs to the
department in recruiting and retaining potential adoptive
families which could be offset by a saving in foster care
payments. However, the net fiscal implication to the State
cannot be determined.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
