In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2573 (relating to county law library fees charged in cases filed
in justice court) this office has determined the following:
The bill would allow counties to impose an additional fee of not
more than $10 for court costs for each civil case filed in
justice court. The fees would be deposited in the county law
library fund.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The Comptroller estimates that each county of population over
250,000 could increase revenue by $325,000 per year. Each county
of 130,000 could increases revenue by $150,000, and each
counties of 20,000 could increase revenue by $55,000 annually.
