In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2603 (relating to the liability of certain volunteer fire
departments) this office has determined the following:

The bill would include volunteer fire departments within the
definition of "governmental unit" for the purposes of the Texas
Tort Claims Act and establish a separate liability limitation for
such departments.


No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
