FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2673 (Relating to the imposition and collection of additional
court costs in certain counties.) this office has determined the
following:

The bill would increase the filing fee for civil cases filed in
statutory county courts from $20 to $30 for each case that is
filed. The bill would also require the Comptroller to credit $30
of the fee deposited in the judicial fund by the county for cases
assigned to a statutory county court as fees deposited under
Section 51.702 of the Government Code.

The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:

            Fiscal Probable Revenue
             Year Gain to GR
                      Consolidated -
                    Judicial Fund 573

          1996 $849,000

          1997 849,000
          1998 849,000

        1999 849,000

        2000 849,000

Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
