LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 30, 1995 TO: Honorable Allen Place, Chair IN RE: Committee Substitute Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence for House of Representatives House Bill Austin, Texas No. 2727 FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 2727 (relating to the prosecution and punishment of certain criminal offenses and to the sentencing of certain defendants convicted of criminal offenses) this office has determined the following: The bill would amend the Penal Code, the Code of Criminal Procedure, and the Health and Safety Code. The major provisions include: - enhancing the punishment for assault to a felony of the third degree if the offense is committed by a public servant, or is committed against a public servant - adding conditions for which the offense of burglary is punishable as a felony of the first degree - enhancing the punishment for certain offenses committed in drug-free zones currently defined by the Health and Safety Code - amending state jail felony community supervision, and - amending provisions relating to the reduction or termination of community supervision.
