LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
April 9, 1995
TO: Honorable Senfronia Thompson, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 2801
Committee on Judicial Affairs By: Oakley
House of Representatives
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2801 (relating to the creation of an additional judicial district
in Rockwall County and to the composition of the 354th judicial
district) this office has determined the following:
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.
The bill would alter the composition of the 354th judicial
district and create the 406th judicial district to be composed of
Rockwall County. Rockwall County could incur costs for
supplementary salaries, a court reporters salary and benefits and
other discretionary expenditures of $75,000 annually. The
fiscal impact to Hunt and Rains counties would depend on the
actions of local officials and cannot be determined.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
Fiscal Probable Cost Out
Year of General Revenue
Fund 001
1996 $102,041
1997 102,041
1998 102,041
1999 102,041
2000 102,041
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
