         House of Representatives No. 2818
         Austin, Texas

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2818 (Relating to the appointment of bailiffs by certain judges.)
this office has determined the following:

The bill would permit the judges of the 9th, 2nd 9th, 221st,
359th and 284th District Courts and the judges of the statutory
county courts in Montgomery County to appoint a bailiff whose
salary is set by the judge and paid out of the general fund of
the county.

No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The salary of the bailiffs would depend on the individual
determinations of the district and county judges in the
referenced courts and cannot be determined.
