In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
2994 (Relating to the Martin Luther King, Jr. statue fee at The
University of Texas at Austin) this office has determined the
following:

The bill would authorize The University of Texas at Austin to
collect an institutional student fee of $1 per student for any
semester or summer term for construction of a Martin Luther King,
Jr. statue.  The authority to charge the fee would expire August
31, 1999 or when sufficient funds for the statue have been
collected.  This fee would be a component of institutional funds
and would not affect the educational and general operations of
the university.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
