LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 27, 1995 TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: House Bill No. 3116 Committee on Public Health By: Delisi, House of Representatives Greenberg Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No. 3116 (Relating to an exemption from annual registration fees for retired physicians performing voluntary charity care.) this office has determined the following: This bill would amend the Medical Practice Act by allowing a retired physician to be exempt from the annual registration fee if their only practice is charity care. The current registration fee for physicians is $300, composed of a $100 registration fee that is deposited to the Medical Registration Account 055 and a $200 professional fee that is deposited to the General Revenue Fund. The number of physicians eligible for the exemption and the corresponding loss in revenue cannot be determined cannot be determined at this time.
