FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on House Bill No.
3116 (Relating to an exemption from annual registration fees for
retired physicians performing voluntary charity care.) this
office has determined the following:

This bill would amend the Medical Practice Act by allowing a
retired physician to be exempt from the annual registration fee
if their only practice is charity care. The current registration
fee for physicians is $300, composed of a $100 registration fee
that is deposited to the Medical Registration Account 055 and a
$200 professional fee that is deposited to the General Revenue
Fund.

The number of physicians eligible for the exemption and the
corresponding loss in revenue cannot be determined cannot be
determined at this time.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
