LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session February 13, 1995 TO: Honorable John Whitmire, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 267 Committee on Criminal Justice By: Shapiro Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 267 (Relating to sex offender registration and public notification of the release of a sex offender into the community; creating offenses and providing criminal penalties.) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill expands the reporting requirements for the Sex Offender Registration Program administered by the Department of Public Safety. The bill also expands the pre-release notification requirements.
