LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 6, 1995 TO: Honorable Don Henderson, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 291 Committee on Jurisprudence By: Moncrief Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 291 (relating to voluntary adoption registries) this office has determined the following: The bill would change the guidelines relating to voluntary adoption registries. The Department of Protective and Regulatory Services (DPRS) would establish and maintain a mutual consent voluntary adoption registry. The bill would allow the registry to establish a schedule of fees for services provided. Fees would be set in an amount reasonably related to the direct and indirect costs of establishing, operating, and maintaining the registry. The language pertaining to the current registration fee would be deleted. The fiscal implication to the State cannot be determined because the schedule of fees would be determined by DPRS. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source: Comptroller of Public Accounts, Department of Protective and Regulatory Services LBB Staff: JK, NM, RR
