LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session February 27, 1995 TO: Honorable David Sibley, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 305 Committee on Economic Development By:Brown, Wentworth Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 305 (relating to the creation of an offense involving certain sales of tickets to events; providing a penalty) this office has determined the following: The bill would prohibit persons from reselling or offering to resell a ticket to an event for a price in excess of the price authorized to be offered to the general public by the event sponsor. The offense would be a Class B misdemeanor. Estimates of the loss of sales tax revenue were based on the Comptroller of Public Accounts' sales tax records for retail outlets in the business of reselling tickets.
