LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD

FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
April 5, 1995
TO: Honorable John T. Montford, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 384
Committee on Finance By: Montford
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
384 (Relating to state aid for counties that provide secure
residential care facilities for certain delinquent children.)
this office has determined the following:
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.
This bill would provide funding through the Texas Juvenile
Probation Commission to counties that provide secure post-
adjudication residential treatment for delinquent youth. The
bill would also authorize the Juvenile Probation Commission to
promulgate standards for such facilities and monitor for
compliance.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
Fiscal Probable Cost Out Probable Savings
Year of General to Units of Local
Revenue Fund 001 Government
1996 $9,765,210 $9,765,210
1997 9,765,210 9,765,210
1998 9,765,210 9,765,210
1999 9,765,210 9,765,210
2000 9,765,210 9,765,210
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
