April 24, 1995
TO: Honorable Robert Junell, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 407,
Committee on Appropriations as engrossed
House of Representatives By: Montford
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
407 (Relating to making emergency appropriations for distribution
of state money to school districts and certain public
institutions and commissions.) this office has determined the
following:
The bill would appropriate the following amounts from the General
Revenue Fund for fiscal year 1995:
$305,000,000 to the Central Education Agency to fund certain
foundation school program payments;
$740,000 to Tarleton State University for expenses incurred in
repairing hail damage;
$1,449,405 to Southwest Texas State University to pay costs of
repairing hail and water damage;
$13,744,133 to the Higher Education Coordinating Board to fund
enrollment and start-up costs at new campuses;
$2,312,050 to the Higher Education Coordinating Board to fund
cost at South Texas Community College;
$70,000 to the Cosmetology Commission; and
$87,000 to the University of Texas at San Antonio for repair and
replacement of equipment and portions of a building damaged by
fire.
The payments to school districts from the appropriation above
will result in General Revenue Fund savings in fiscal year 1996.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
