LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session February 13, 1995 TO: Honorable Rodney Ellis, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 431 Committee on Intergovernmental By: Madla Relations Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 431 (Relating to the punishment for certain criminal offenses committed on the premises of a public transportation system and the prohibition of consumption of alcoholic beverages on the property of certain metropolitan transit authorities.) this office has determined the following: The bill would amend Chapter 12 of the Penal Code by increasing the punishment prescribed to the next highest category for certain offenses if it is shown at the trial that the offense occurred on the premises of a designated recipient of mass transit funds. Provisions of the bill also allow an authority to prohibit the consumption of alcoholic beverages on any real or personal property under the possession or control of the department. Such offenses would be punishable as Class C misdemeanors. The fiscal implication to the State or units of local government cannot be determined. Source: LBB Staff: JK, GG, RR
