LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
February 22, 1995
TO: Honorable Ken Armbrister, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 460
Committee on State Affairs By: Lucio
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
460 (Relating to license qualifications for certain inspectors
regulated by the Texas Real Estate Commission.) this office has
determined the following:
The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.
The bill would provide alternative means of qualifying for an
apprentice inspector license or a real estate inspector license.
The Texas Real Estate Commission would be authorized to adopt
rules permitting applications to substitute relevant experience
or education for the number of inspections required for an
inspector license. Applicants who cannot satisfy the direct
supervision and sponsorship requirements could qualify by means
of an examination.
A potential result of the bill's provisions is a moderate
increase in agency workload for processing additional license
applications and for developing examinations. However, the
potential workload increase is not expected to be significant and
could be absorbed within present similar functions.
No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local
government is anticipated.
