TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 476,
Committee on Health & Human Services as amended

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
476 (relating to the regulation of the practice of naturopathic
medicine; providing penalties) this office has determined the
following:

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would provide for the licensing and regulation of
naturopathic physicians.

The Board of Health would adopt rules to provide for the
administration of the regulatory program and the Texas Department
of Health would administer the regulatory program.

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
