LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 10, 1995 TO: Honorable Hugo Berlanga, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 482, Committee on Public Health as engrossed House of Representatives By: Zaffirini Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 482 (Relating to the creation, powers, and duties of the Texas Volunteer Health Corps.) this office has determined the following: The Texas Volunteer Health Corps will link five distinct volunteer programs (seniors; interns, students, and youth; VISTA and AmeriCorps volunteers; AFDC "JOBS" training program participants; and individuals from corporations and churches) with residents of local communities in order to: 1. involve those residents in preventive health care; 2. expand the role of those residents in making decisions about their own health; 3. and build community support for public health.
