In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
482 (Relating to the creation, powers, and duties of the Texas
Volunteer Health Corps.) this office has determined the
following:

The Texas Volunteer Health Corps will link five distinct
volunteer programs (seniors; interns, students, and youth; VISTA
and AmeriCorps volunteers; AFDC "JOBS" training program
participants; and individuals from corporations and churches)
with residents of local communities in order to:

1.  involve those residents in preventive health care;
2. expand the role of those residents in making decisions about
their own health;
3. and build community support for public health.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
