In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
482 (Relating to the creation, powers, and duties of the Texas
Volunteer Health Corps.) this office has determined the
following:
The Texas Volunteer Health Corps will link five distinct
volunteer programs (seniors; interns, students, and youth; VISTA
andAmeriCorps volunteers; AFDC "JOBS" training program
participants; and individuals from corporations and churches)
with residents of local communities in order to:
1. Involve those residents in preventive health care.
2. Expand the role of those residents in making decisions about
their own health.
3. Build community support for public health.
No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
