LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 7, 1995 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 482 Committee on Health & Human Services By: Zaffirini Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 482 (Relating to the creation, powers, and duties of the Texas Volunteer Health Corps.) this office has determined the following: The Texas Volunteer Health Corps will link five distinct volunteer programs (seniors; interns, students, and youth; VISTA andAmeriCorps volunteers; AFDC "JOBS" training program participants; and individuals from corporations and churches) with residents of local communities in order to: 1. Involve those residents in preventive health care. 2. Expand the role of those residents in making decisions about their own health. 3. Build community support for public health.
