LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 4, 1995 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 513 Committee on Health & Human Services By: Moncrief Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 513 (Relating to the requirement that a prospective voluntary inpatient mental health consumer be accompanied by a physician's signed order.) this office has determined the following: This bill amends Section 572.0025 of the Health and Safety Code to allow a voluntary patient to be accepted for treatment on a physician's oral or electronically transmitted order as long as the oral or electronic order is followed by the physician's signed original within 24 hours of the initial order. The change would take effect on passage of the bill. No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated.
