In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
553 (relating to a discount on motor vehicle insurance premiums
for certain students based on academic achievement) this office
has determined the following:

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would amend the Insurance Code to allow an insurer to
give a discount on a motor vehicle insurance policy to an insured
or covered family member who is an honor student.  The bill would
also require the Insurance Commissioner to prescribe an
application form and to set the amount of the discounts.


No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
