LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 29, 1995 TO: Honorable Don Henderson, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 622 Committee on Jurisprudence By: Harris, Chris Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 622 (relating to the establishment and operation of a domestic relations office; providing a penalty) this office has determined the following: The bill would amend the Family Code by authorizing a county commissioners court to establish a domestic relations office and by requiring the commissioners court in a county having a population of 1,000,000 or more to establish such an office. A domestic relations office would be allowed to collect and disburse child support payments that are ordered by a court to be paid through a domestic relations registry. The office would also be authorized to file a suit affecting the parent-child relationship, including a suit to establish paternity; enforce a court order for child support or for possession of and access to a child; and modify or clarify an existing court order. No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated. The fiscal implication to units of local government cannot be determined.
