LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
March 29, 1995
TO: Honorable Don Henderson, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 622
Committee on Jurisprudence By: Harris, Chris
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
622 (relating to the establishment and operation of a domestic
relations office; providing a penalty) this office has determined
the following:
The bill would amend the Family Code by authorizing a county
commissioners court to establish a domestic relations office and
by requiring the commissioners court in a county having a
population of 1,000,000 or more to establish such an office. A
domestic relations office would be allowed to collect and
disburse child support payments that are ordered by a court to be
paid through a domestic relations registry. The office would
also be authorized to file a suit affecting the parent-child
relationship, including a suit to establish paternity; enforce a
court order for child support or for possession of and access to
a child; and modify or clarify an existing court order.
No fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The fiscal implication to units of local government cannot be
determined.
