LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
March 8, 1995
TO: Honorable Ken Armbrister, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 653
Committee on State Affairs By: Galloway
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
653 (Relating to fees paid by certain registered professional
engineers.) this office has determined the following:
This bill modifies the Texas Engineering Practice Act by allowing
the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers (BRPE) to
adopt rules which could reduce registration and annual renewal
fees for DISABLED engineers who are not actively practicing their
profession.
Disabled engineers would be exempted from the $200 annual
professional fee.
The bill also allows the BRPE to adopt rules which could reduce
registration fees for individuals at least 65 years of age.
The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:
Fiscal Probable Revenue
Year Loss from General
Revenue Fund 001
1996 $40,000
1997 40,000
1998 40,000
1999 40,000
2000 40,000
Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
