LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 8, 1995 TO: Honorable Ken Armbrister, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 653 Committee on State Affairs By: Galloway Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 653 (Relating to fees paid by certain registered professional engineers.) this office has determined the following: This bill modifies the Texas Engineering Practice Act by allowing the Board of Registration for Professional Engineers (BRPE) to adopt rules which could reduce registration and annual renewal fees for DISABLED engineers who are not actively practicing their profession. Disabled engineers would be exempted from the $200 annual professional fee. The bill also allows the BRPE to adopt rules which could reduce registration fees for individuals at least 65 years of age. The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of the bill during each of the first five years following passage is estimated as follows: Fiscal Probable Revenue Year Loss from General Revenue Fund 001 1996 $40,000 1997 40,000 1998 40,000 1999 40,000 2000 40,000 Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect.
