LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 8, 1995 TO: Honorable Bill Sims, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 700, Committee on Natural Resources as amended Senate By: Sims, Lucio Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 700 (relating to the registration of pesticides) this office has determined the following: The bill would amend provisions relating to the registration of pesticides by allowing pesticide registration renewals to take place on a biennial rather than an annual basis. The bill would also change the amount of the fee for each pesticide registered from $100 to $300. These proposed amendments would result in lower administrative costs to the Department of Agriculture. The department would be authorized to establish staggered registration dates. The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of the bill during each of the first five years following passage is estimated as follows: Fiscal Probable Revenue Probable Savings Change in Year Gain to General to General Revenue Number of State Revenue Fund 001 Fund 001 Employees from FY 1995 1996 $833,600 .0 1997 524,150 6,189 .0 1998 834,500 44,065 (1.0) 1999 858,800 44,065 (1.0) 2000 858,800 44,065 (1.0) Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source: Department of Agriculture LBB Staff: JK, JH, DF
