LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 28, 1995 TO: Honorable Bill Ratliff, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 786 Committee on Education By: Ellis Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 786 (Relating to the student fee for the university center at the University of Houston.; Relating to the student fee for the university center at the University of Houston.) this office has determined the following: The bill would authorize the University of Houston to increase the student union fee from $15 to $35 per student for each regular semester and $7.50 to $17.50 per student for each summer session. The bill would require any increase in the fee of more than 10 percent from one academic year to the next to be approved by a majority vote of the students in an election or a majority vote of the student government. This bill would increase the revenue collected locally by the institution; however, these funds are not subject to appropriation.
