LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD
Austin, Texas
FISCAL NOTE
74th Regular Session
March 28, 1995
TO: Honorable Bill Ratliff, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 786
Committee on Education By: Ellis
Senate
Austin, Texas
FROM: John Keel, Director
In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
786 (Relating to the student fee for the university center at the
University of Houston.; Relating to the student fee for the
university center at the University of Houston.) this office has
determined the following:
The bill would authorize the University of Houston to increase
the student union fee from $15 to $35 per student for each
regular semester and $7.50 to $17.50 per student for each summer
session. The bill would require any increase in the fee of more
than 10 percent from one academic year to the next to be approved
by a majority vote of the students in an election or a majority
vote of the student government.
This bill would increase the revenue collected locally by the
institution; however, these funds are not subject to
appropriation.
No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
