LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 14, 1995 TO: Honorable Bill Sims, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 814 Committee on Natural Resources By: Brown Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 814 (Relating to the requirement of commercial licenses to catch, unload, and sell aquatic products.) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would establish a Commercial Shrimp Boat Captain's License, which is estimated to generate $122,850 each year in revenue for the Game, Fish and Water Safety Account 009. The bill would also exempt certain individuals from having to possess a Commercial Finfish License, a General Commercial License, and a Bait Dealer's License. It is estimated that this will result in a loss of $88,240 each year to the Game, Fish and Water Safety Account. The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of the bill during each of the first five years following passage is estimated as follows: Fiscal Probable Revenue Probable Revenue Year Gain to the Game, Loss to the Game, Fish and Water Fish and Water Safety Account 009 Safety Account 009 1996 $122,850 $88,240 1997 122,850 88,240 1998 122,850 88,240 1999 122,850 88,240 2000 122,850 88,240 Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the provisions of the bill are in effect. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated. Source: Parks and Wildlife Department LBB Staff: JK, PVT, PV, DF
