                           FISCAL NOTE
                       74th Regular Session

                          April 26, 1995

TO: Honorable Clyde Alexander, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 832,
         Committee on Transportation as engrossed
         House of Representatives By: Wentworth
         Austin, Texas

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
832 (Providing for the issuance of specially designed United
States Olympic Committee Texas license plates.) this office has
determined the following:

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would provide for the issuance of special United States
Olympic Committee license plates for passenger cars and light
commercial vehicles with a manufacturer's rated capacity of one
ton or less. The fee for the plates would be $20 for each year
the vehicle is registered, in addition to the regular
registration fee. The bill creates a special non lapsing fund
titled the U.S. Olympics trust fund--Texas with $10 being
deposited to the credit of the fund and $10 being deposited to
the State Highway Fund to be used only to defray the cost of
administration of the bill. Funds credited to the trust fund
would be transferred to the U.S. Olympic Committee no more than
one time per calendar year.

The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:

Fiscal Probable Cost Out Probable Revenue Probable Revenue
Year of State Highway Gain to the State Gain to the U.S.

Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.
