LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 21, 1995 TO: Honorable Bill Sims, Chair IN RE: Senate Bill No. 897 Committee on Natural Resources By: Sims Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 897 (Relating to a review of Texas' programs to research, control, and eradicate animal tuberculosis and to implementing an improved program based on the review.) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would require a review of the current tuberculosis programs for traditional and nontraditional farm and ranch animals and the implementation of an improved program. The following agencies and college would be included: the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, Texas Department of Agriculture, Texas Agricultural Experiment Station, Texas Agricultural Extension Service, Texas Animal Damage Control Service, Texas Department of Health, and the Texas Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory. The Agricultural Experiment Station would coordinate the review of current programs to research, control, and eradicate animal tuberculosis. After review, an improved program would be implemented. Fiscal implications would be dependent upon findings of the review as they relate to the improved program and cannot be determined.
