LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session April 18, 1995 TO: Honorable Judith Zaffirini, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 1033 Committee on Health & Human Services By: Harris, Chris Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 1033 (Relating to the protection of the rights and health of women; providing penalties.) this office has determined the following: The bill would require physicians' offices or clinics where abortions are performed to be licensed as ambulatory surgical centers. The bill would add requirements that ambulatory surgical centers performing abortions report to the Department of Health certain data items regarding every abortion performed. The bill would also require that the Department of Health conduct an annual inspection of each ambulatory surgical center not certified under Title XVIII of the Social Security Act.
