FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
1063 (Relating to the regulation of package stores.) this office
has determined the following:

The bill would increase the annual permit fee for package stores
to $500 from $300. The bill would also provide various
regulatory changes regarding the operation of package stores.

Estimates are based on Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission Annual
Report data regarding the number of package stores permitted
during fiscal year 1994.

The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:

            Fiscal Probable Revenue
             Year Gain to General
                    Revenue Fund 001

          1996 $502,800

          1997 502,800
          1998 502,800

          1999 502,800

        2000 502,800

Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.

The fiscal implication to units of local government cannot be
determined.
