LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 28, 1995 TO: Honorable Eddie Lucio, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 1146 Subcommittee on Agriculture By: Lucio Senate Austin, Texas FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No. 1146 (Relating to citrus fruit maturity standards.) this office has determined the following: The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions of the bill. The bill would amend the Texas Agriculture Code by changing dates when citrus, particularly oranges and grapefruit, may be transported, tested, or prepared for sale. There could be a loss of revenue to the state due to fewer citrus lot inspections, but the loss would be offset by a reduction in costs associated with conducting fewer tests. No significant fiscal implication to the State or units of local government is anticipated. Source: Department of Agriculture LBB Staff: JK, JH, DF
