FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
1320 (Relating to the Martin Luther King, Jr., statue fee at The
University of Texas at Austin) this office has determined the
following:

The bill would authorize The University of Texas at Austin to
collect a student fee of $1 per student for any semester or
summer term for construction of a Martin Luther King, Jr. statue.
Any funds collected in excess of that needed to construct the
statue would be used to establish Martin Luther King, Jr.,
student scholarships. These fees would be auxiliary in nature
and would not affect educational and general operations of the
university.

No fiscal implication to the State or units of local government
is anticipated.
