In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
1508 (Relating to the compensation of the commissioner of
education and the payment of certain expenses.; Relating to the
compensation of the commissioner of education and the payment of
certain expenses.) this office has determined the following:

The bill would establish the salary for the Commissioner of
Education at $156,014 annually.  It would also provide that the
State Board of Education may pay up to $5,000 in relocation
expenses for an incoming commissioner.

Additional cost would be absorbed within existing resources of
the Texas Education Agency.


No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
