TO: Honorable Ken Armbrister, Chair IN RE: Senate BillNo. 1524
Committee on State Affairs By: Rosson
         Senate
         Austin, Texas

FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
1524 (Relating to the composition of a rate class for electric
service.) this office has determined the following:

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would amend the Public Utility Regulatory Act to allow
any electric utility that has an approved separate rate class for
a university and where the Public Utility Commission has grouped
public schools in a separate rate class, to include any community
college in the public school rate class.

Any additional agency workload that would result from
implementation of the bill would be performed with existing
agency staff.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.

No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
