FROM: John Keel, Director

In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Bill No.
1670 (relating to the regulation of certain amateur boxing
events) this office has determined the following:

The bill would make no appropriation but could provide the legal
basis for an appropriation of funds to implement the provisions
of the bill.

The bill would require the Department of Licensing and Regulation
to license amateur boxing elimination contestants and promoters.
It is assumed that there would be 4 promoters and 300 contestants
licensed by the department. The bill would set promoter
application fees and promoter license fees not to exceed $1,000.
Contestant fees would be set at $150. Fees would be deposited
into the general revenue fund.

The probable fiscal implication of implementing the provisions of
the bill during each of the first five years following passage
is estimated as follows:

Fiscal Probable Cost Out Probable Revenue Change in
Year of General Gain to General Number of State

        1998 44,468 49,000 1.0

        1999 44,468 49,000 1.0

        2000 44,468 49,000 1.0

Similar annual fiscal implications would continue as long as the
provisions of the bill are in effect.

No fiscal implication to units of local government is
anticipated.
