LEGISLATIVE BUDGET BOARD Austin, Texas FISCAL NOTE 74th Regular Session March 8, 1995 TO: Honorable Ken Armbrister, Chair IN RE: Senate Joint Committee on State Affairs Resolution Senate No. 1 Austin, Texas By: Ellis FROM: John Keel, Director In response to your request for a Fiscal Note on Senate Joint Resolution No. 1 (Proposing a constitutional amendment abolishing the office of state treasurer.) this office has determined the following: The resolution proposes a constitutional amendment which, if adopted would provide for the abolishment of the constitutional office of the State Treasury effective August 31, 1996. The resolution would require the transfer of constitutional duties to the Comptroller of Public Accounts and the transfer of statutory duties to officers and agencies of state government in accordance with general law. The resolution would require that a constitutional amendment be presented to the voters in an election held on November 7, 1995. Fiscal implications would be dependent upon implementing legislation such as Senate bill 20. No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
