Amend the Grusendorf amendment to CSHB 1 to read as follows:
      Amend CSHB 1 as follows:
      (1)  On page XI-10, add the following appropriation under the
Texas Education Agency:
                                                1998        1999
      A.1.2.  ACCOUNTABILITY SYSTEM          22,500,000  22,500,000
      (2)  On page XI-11, add the following rider to the Texas
Education Agency:
      PRINCIPAL INCENTIVE. Of the amount appropriated above in item
A.1.2, $12,500,000 each fiscal year is allocated for the principal
incentive program pursuant to Section 21.357, Education Code.
      (3)  On page XI-11, add the following rider and strike rider
48 on page III-16:
      SUCCESSFUL SCHOOLS AWARD PROGRAM. Of the amount appropriated
above in item A.1.2, $12,500,000 for each year in the biennium is
allocated for the successful schools award program pursuant to
Subchapter E, Chapter 39, Education Code.
