Amend CSSB 299 as follows:
      (1)  Strike Sections 1 through 3.
      (2)  Add a new Section 1 as follows, and renumber the
subsequent sections accordingly:
      "SECTION 1.  Section 84.002(a), Family Code, as added by
SB 797, Acts of the 75th Legislature, Regular Session, 1997, is
amended to read as follows:
      "On the request of a prosecuting attorney in a county with a
population of more than 1.5 million or in a county in a judicial
district that is composed of more than one county, the court shall
set the hearing on a date and time not later than 20 days after the
date the application is filed or 20 days after the date a request
is made to reschedule a hearing under section 84.003."
