DIGEST 

Currently, Sections 7.05(a) and (c), Chapter 1047, Acts of the 68th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1983, set the maximum tax rate of the Sutton
County Hospital District at 20 cents per $100 valuation of all taxable
property in the district.  The hospital's board of directors requests an
increase in taxes to maintain the current level of service.  This bill
increases the maximum ad valorem tax rate of the Sutton County Hospital
District from 20 cents to 35 cents per $100 of valuation on all taxable
property in the district. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 826 increases the maximum ad valorem tax rate of the
Sutton County Hospital District from 20 cents to 35 cents per $100 of
valuation on all taxable property in the district. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Sections 7.05(a) and (c), Chapter 1047, Acts of the 68th
Legislature, Regular Session, 1983, to authorize the board of the Sutton
County Hospital District (district) to order an election on the question
of increasing the district's maximum tax rate to 35, rather than 20, cents
on each $100 of valuation on all taxable property in the district.  Makes
a conforming change. 

SECTION 2. Emergency clause.
  Effective date: upon passage.
