DIGEST

Currently, teachers at the Texas School for the Deaf and most teachers
throughout the state have the option of receiving their pay in 12 equal
monthly installments rather than nine. H.B. 932 allows all employees at
the Texas School for the Deaf to receive a paycheck for 12 months rather
than nine. Their current salary would simply be "leveled" in 12 equal
monthly installments.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 932 establishes the manner in which salaries are paid to
certain employees of the Texas School for the Deaf.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 30.055(b), Education Code, to require an
employee under a contract under this subsection to be paid the salary

the employee chooses to be paid in that manner. Deletes the provision
authorizing an employee under a contract to be permitted by the governing
board of the Texas School for the Deaf to be paid the same.

SECTION 2. Emergency clause.
  Effective date: upon passage.
