JLM H.B. 932 75(R) BILL ANALYSIS PUBLIC EDUCATION H.B. 932 By: Maxey 5-2-97 Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND This bill would allow Texas School for the Deaf employees the option of receiving their pay in 12 equal monthly installments rather than 9. Teachers at TSD and most teachers throughout the state already have this option. PURPOSE Allow all employees at the Texas School for the Deaf to receive a pay check for 12 months rather than nine. Their current salary would simply be "leveled" in 12 equal monthly installments. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or institution. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1 Section 30.055(b), Education Code, is amended in subsection (5) to read as follows: (5) The subsection is changed to mandate that employees of Texas School for the Deaf shall have the option of being paid their salary designated in the employment contract in 12 equal monthly installments. SECTION 2 Emergency clause.
