CN H.B. 1018 75(R)BILL ANALYSIS JUVENILE JUSTICE & FAMILY ISSUES H.B. 1018 By: Yarbrough 2-27-97 Committee Report (Unamended) BACKGROUND Subtitle C, Title 7 of the Transportation Code as enacted, (Acts 1995, 74th Legislature Sec.1, eff. September 1, 1995.) replaced the Uniform Act Regulating Traffic on Highways, (Article 67.01 (d)) of the Vernon's Texas Civil Statutes, which makes section (c) Article 102.014 unenforceable in the Code of Criminal Procedure. PURPOSE To clarify the Code of Criminal Procedure, Article 102.014, as reflected by the Acts of the 74th Legislature in the Transportation Code and the Education Code. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or institution. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS Section 1. Amends subsection (c) of Article 102.014, Code of Criminal Procedure to provide that a person convicted under Subtitle C, Title 7, Transportation Code, when the offense occurs within a school crossing zone as defined by Section 541.302, will pay court costs $20.00 in addition to other taxable court costs. A person convicted of an offense under Section 545.066, Transportation Code, will pay court costs $20.00 in addition to other taxable court costs. And a person convicted of an offense under Section 25.093 or 25.094, will pay court costs $20.00 additional to other taxable court costs. Section 2. States that the act is not retroactive. Section 3.
