DIGEST

The Department of Veterans Affairs recently purchased land in southwest
Dallas for use as a national cemetery. The parcel of land on which the
new cemetery will be located partially abuts the Dallas Baptist University
Campus and is between Mountain Creek Lake and Spur 408. The Texas
National Cemetery Foundation, Inc., is requesting that Spur 408 be renamed
"Patriot Parkway." The City of Dallas has issued a resolution concurring
with the Texas National Cemetery Foundation. Legislative approval is
required to rename Spur 408.

H.B. 1299 would designate a portion of Spur 408 in Dallas County as
Patriot Parkway to commemorate the achievements of veterans buried at the
national cemetery in Dallas County.
PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 1299 designates a portion of Spur 408 in Dallas County
