BACKGROUND
The current Election Code makes use of mostly masculine pronouns and other
language that is gender specific. Numerous other Texas codes, including
the Banking Code and Credit Code, have been cleaned up to replace any
gender specific language with gender neutral language. In addition, any
new changes to the statutes (drafted by Legislative Council) are written
in gender neutral language.
PURPOSE
This bill makes no substantive changes to the Election Code. The bill
merely changes any gender specific language to language that is gender
neutral.
RULEMAKING AUTHORITY
It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution.
