DIGEST 

Currently, the terms of court for Callahan County in the 42nd District
Court begin on the 8th and 22nd Mondays after the first Monday in January
and on the eighth Monday after the first Monday in September.  This bill
will change the terms of court for Callahan County to begin on the first
Mondays in January and July. 

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 1706 changes the terms of court for Callahan County to
begin on the first Mondays in January and July. 

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency. 

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 24.144(c), Government Code, to provide that the
terms of the 42nd District Court begin in Callahan County on the first
Mondays in January and July, rather than on the 8th and 22nd Mondays after
the first Monday in January and on the eighth Monday after the first
Monday in September. 

SECTION 2. Emergency clause.
  Effective date: upon passage.
