BACKGROUND 

 Currently, the terms of court for Callahan County in the 42nd District
Court begin on the 8th and 22nd Mondays after the first Monday in January
and on the eighth Monday after the first Monday in September.   


PURPOSE

 House Bill 1706 changes the terms of the district court for Callahan
County in the 42nd Judicial District to begin on the first Mondays in
January and July. 


RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

 It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution. 


SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

 SECTION 1 amends Government Code, Section 24.144(c)(1) to change the
terms of the 42nd District Court in Callahan County to begin on the first
Mondays in January and July of each year. 

 SECTION 2.  Emergency clause.  Effective date.
