DIGEST 

Currently, the Real Estate Research Advisory Committee of the 
Texas A&M University Real Estate 
Research Center must elect a chairman from its membership.  This 
bill will provide regulations 
regarding the election of a presiding officer and an assistant 
presiding officer for the committee.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 1779 provides regulations for the Real Estate 
Research Center.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a 
state officer, institution, or agency.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

SECTION 1. Amends Section 86.52(e), Education Code, to require the 
Real Estate Research 
Advisory Committee to elect a presiding officer  and an assistant 
presiding officer, rather than a 
chairman, from its membership, and each officer shall serve for a 
term of one year.  Makes a 
nonsubstantive change.

SECTION 2. (a) Effective date: September 1, 1997.

(b) Sets forth regulations regarding the election of the 
assistant presiding officer.
