In many instances, accidents involving motorcycles occur because the driver of the car did not see the motorcycle. This bill requires at least one headlamp to be used while a motorcycle is being operated. PURPOSE As proposed, H.B. 2522 sets forth a provision regarding the operation of a motorcycles on a public street or highway. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 547.801, Transportation Code, by adding Subsection (d), to prohibit a motorcycle from being operated at any time unless at least one headlamp on the motorcycle is illuminated. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 1997. SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
