DIGEST

Currently, institutions of higher education may offer students an option
to pay tuition by installments; however, junior colleges are not included
in offering this option. For example, a student attending the University
of Texas-Pan American could pay tuition in installments; but, a student
attending South Texas Community College would not have this option. This
bill will allow students at public junior colleges to pay tuition and fees
in installments.

PURPOSE

As proposed, H.B. 2747 allows students at public junior colleges to pay
tuition and fees in installments.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state
officer, institution, or agency.

SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS

semesters through certain alternatives. Makes a conforming change.

SECTION 2. Provides that this Act takes effect beginning with tuition and
fees imposed for the fall semester of 1997.

  Effective date: upon passage.
