Committee Report (Unamended)

BACKGROUND

Currently, Section 42.29, Tax Code (Attorney's Fees), limits attorney's
fees awarded for an ad valorem tax appeal. The fees may not exceed the
total amount that the property owner's tax liability is reduced after an
appeal.

PURPOSE

The bill eliminates the current limits that cap attorney's fees in certain
appeals of ad valorem taxes of real property.

RULEMAKING AUTHORITY

It is the committee's opinion that this bill does not expressly grant any
additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, department, agency or
institution.
